This course introduces students to the fundamentals of research and data analysis used in criminal justice and social science. Students learn how researchers collect, measure, and interpret information to better understand crime, social issues, and policy outcomes. Emphasis is placed on recognizing patterns in data, drawing informed conclusions, and critically evaluating research findings. Using real-world examples such as crime and social justice data, students gain hands-on experience with research tools and software to explore relationships, interpret results, and apply evidence-based reasoning to policy and practice.
